Thank God! You will never know what with-drawl symptoms I have suffered through! First off let's clear a few things up I had almost all male nurses and that is just not my speed. One was a Civil War Reenactor who also shoots so that added some sanity to my 4 day stay at the VA hospital. First off I had a heart problem in addition to the Mosinsanity which they told me is untreatable and without cure. Somewhere in the last few months or day or who knows when I have become A Fib and my heart...

Re-using Kroil?

Kroil isn't particularly cheap...would it be foolish to try and re-use it after, say, soaking a rusty, frozen barreled action in it?

Normally I would discard a solvent after using it to clean metal parts, but I've never used that much penetrating oil before. I've seen early breechloading naval guns soaked in massive amounts of Kroil as part of their restoration, and the oil was re-used for other pieces rather than being discarded. I don't want to sound cheap, but...

In terms of reliability, accuracy, and total # produced, what milsurps do you think are under-appreciated?

I think the Rashid is one. Wasn't there only about 5K produced? Prices on these have started to go up, but for something so comparitively rare, you would expect an excellent condition one to be $1000 or more.

We've finally started to see the price on the K31 go up, but considering how fantastic these shoot, I still think they are undervalued. Swede...

....forums like this one were formed 10 years ago or more? I know the cameras are the most improved part of it but so has high speed internet connections which enable us to see those higher quality images. I do feel for the dial-up crowd but it is so much nicer now looking at pics of our toys than it was even 5 years ago. Too bad most of us are not acquiring as much to take photos of as we once did.

He just called a little while ago, he's in the hospital & asked me to request you milsurpers do him a small favor.

Gun room

I have finally got a room dedicated solely for my collecting puposes that I built in my basement.I need a way to display my collection in said room and have seen others of you that have what appears to be 2x2's with dowel rods for holders.Can anyone be so kind as to guide me in some demensions so I could duplicate these for myself.It looks like a very tidy and display oriented set-up.Thank you for any and all replies. Lyman "All American" Scope

Years ago while cleaning out the basement to our house (once belonging to my wife's grand parents), I found a Lyman All American 4X scope with Perma Center. I'd say the scope is in 99% condition. I know nothing of Lyman scopes, but from what little I've gleaned off the internet, they appear to be a decent scope. At least in reguards to lower end scopes. I'm getting some of my hunting gear together for a little small...

New Years Resolutions

I have been thinking a lot about 2009, and I have come up with a list of gun related resolutions that I will try to abide by.

Resolution #1 I will refrain from panic buying just to possess an "assault weapon". So far I have avoided the frenzy of EBG panic buying.

Resolution #2 I will not procrastinate when a good deal comes up for ammo. A few times this year I goofed around when a new shipment of surplus ammo hit the market, and missed out on what...

They really don't get any prettier than this! In my opinion one of the handsomest revolvers ever made. Some like the Remington revolvers but the Colts are just beautiful.

My father was in Italy in WW2. I came across his papers in a shoebox in the attic years ago while he was still alive. In the box were letters to his mother, bringback papers for 2 pistols - a beretta and a Spanish 44. There was also a pistol magazine with 4 32cal bullets. My dad told me the pistols were stolen from his footlocker when he got back to New York. I identified the magazine as a Beretta 1935 and have been looking for one for years. I stopped by a gunshop today & they had one...

What the ????

I have moved all the non-spam-can-selled ammo BACK into the gun room from the garage. Always had a water problem in there when it rained, so I put the gutter up on the side that would flood and dug down to the foundation and coated those walls with both a sealant and the tar-like foundation coat. (Draintile to go in next week). I thought the gutter had the issue corrected as no more moisture was collecting.

Yesterday, when I went inside, there was more...

I think we had a total (maybe a record) or 43 shooters on the firing line throughout the long day of nasty misty foggy weather.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. My wife is a nurse manager at VA hospital and today was her turn to be the holiday supervisor. As she was doing her rounds this morning there was a older vet in the ER that was in the process of being transferred up to her floor. She told him that she was sorry that he had to be in the hospital on Christmas day. He said that's alright it does not bother me because back in 1944 I spent Christmas day in a fox hole in the middle of the battle...
