Columbia ,SC gunshow this weekend

Can some of you let me know if this is a decent show ? This weekend I have a choice of Macon,Ga. NOT ! , Lake City,Fla. and Columbia,SC.... There are a few of us contemplating going to one of these.....If you have any suggestions,let me know.

Prices Coming Down?

It's been several months since I've been to one of the large shows. I know that for a while, gun prices were going up as fast as gas. Are they coming down now with the downturn in the economy? Or are you now hearing "better get 'em while you can cause Obama's gonna ban 'em all!"? Biggest crowd I ever saw at a gunshow was in January of 1993, just before Bill Clinton was ignaugurated. Almost no place to park, and panic buying in the show.

Savannah, GA Eastman Show?

Thinking about the going to the show this weekend but want to know if this is worth giving up some coastal fishing time for?
This would be my first savannah show as I usually attended the Atlanta area shows until moving here. I'm needing some Mosin 54R softtip hunting ammo and just like browsing the tables for good buy. Speaking of good buys have hard economic times made for better buys at shows.

Last weekend, 6/21 & 22. As usual, I dropped my wife off at King of Prussia and drove to the show a couple of miles away. Suffice to say that gas is not the only thing that's gone way up in price. Not only that, but the dealers are using the threat that "the democrats are gonna stop gun sales next year" as an incentive to buy their overpriced merchandise.

The 16th Annual Daisy BB Gun Show, aka the "Get Together" will be held once again in Mason at the Cobblestone Events Center, Mason Antiques District, 205 Mason Street, Mason Michigan. Show hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with admission only $2.00 per person or early admission during set up $25.00 per person. Set up starts at 7 a.m. This is a one day show.

I have set up at the last three shows and can say that it is very interesting compared to attending...

This was inspired by a post on Gunboards. How many types of characters do you keep seeing at gun shows, time after time? My list:

The Old Codger: Weighing about 300 pounds, he stands chatting in the middle of the aisle, totally oblivious ot the fact that nobody can get by him. It has usually been way too long since he has showered or washed his hair.

The Museum Curator: Has a huge assortment of guns at his table, and it soon becomes obvious why - he is asking about...

I couldn't extend my stay in Phoenix to make the gun show there so I drove over to a "Crossroads of the West" gun show north of San Diego. Sorry, I forgot the exact name of the place it was held!!.
It was a nice show, I was surprised at how high the prices were for WWII mil-surp. I saw two 1903 Mark I's (mine are in as good shape as the ones displayed) they were priced at (GASP!!!)...

Horrible weather but a Great Crowd! Maybe the Farmer's Convention in town boosted the gate. We drove over from NY in freezing slush 40-55 mph with cars off the road frequently. Sunday's crowd was almost as big as saturdays until 1:00 pm. The weather didn't scare them off! I saw a nice rebuilt arsenal marked 1963 date M1 Garand go for $900 and an early 1942 M1 Carbine with original wood went for around $700. I bought 5 perfect old USGI 20 round WW1 boxes of .45 ACP ammo [marked...

Dixie Gunshow at Charlotte

Went to the Dixie Gunshow this morning and so did a lot of others. Long line at 9am and crowded isles when everyone got in. Found a few bargains on bullets for reloading. Overall a good show with lots of mil-surps of all types.

Maybe this is just me,but gunshows around here seem to have more junk then guns!Tables with toys,jewelry, tools(non gunsmithing) and off the wall gadgets abound.People hawking vitamins,candy,and bootblackEven got into a spat with some fool because I would not contribute to the unheard of charity he was pushing.A good portion of the people that are selling guns and the like,are waaaaay over priced.Same old tired stuff, that has been seen at the last 10 shows.I guess the show hosts figure that...

Valley Forge Show

I attended this one on Sunday - first time for me. Wife and daughter were shopping at King of Prussia Mall (only a couple of miles away), so I had plenty of time to explore the show at my leisure. Reasonable sized show, not as huge as Harrisburg. Prices ranged from outrageous to quite reasonable, and there was a decent variety of milsurps available. I will be back.

NCGCA show, February 1-2, 2008

North Carolina Gun Collectors Assn. (NCGCA) appears to be back in operation or certainly trying to.

Received flyer and letter from Scott today that they will have a show Feb. 1-2, 2008. As most know, this organization held shows for umpteen years at the Charlotte Merchandise Mart. At one time this was a premier "collector's" show, at least for me it was, in the Carolinas and vendors from around the country attended. The old Feb. shows were not to be missed, my goodness...

Harrisburg Show

I went yesterday (Saturday). This was the "big" show in the large exhibition hall. A little disappointed with the prices - always amazes me that prices are higher at the big shows. Runs contrary to economic theory about "many sellers".

Hello...Everbody

It has been awhile since I have commented on any gunshows. A couple of hard drive re-formats grrr.

I went to the Florence show this Saturday and it was a little shy of folks attending in the early am, but seemed to pick up in the afternoon. There must have been some shows in other locations because there were no ammo dealers there with good assortments of factory re-loads for handguns as there usually are. I also didn't see many milsurp enthusists...
